Let the world see you by your faith!

Who likes attention – like the standing-in-front-of-a-crowd-under-a-spotlight attention?
Ever been the star of the show? How does the attention make you feel?
Ever get attention for the wrong reason? Maybe you did something wrong?
How did you feel then?
Discussion
Ellie Goulding sings about letting a fire burn so high the whole world will see it and take notice. She sings about standing in the middle of the dance floor letting everyone’s eyes rest on you! Grab their attention! Light is a major theme throughout Scripture. Jesus urges us, as Christians, to live as lights shining out into the world. In Matthew 5: 13-16 – Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount – He says, “’You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and
glorify your Father in heaven.’” Jesus urges us to let our actions speak louder than our words.
Take a minute and consider these questions: How are your daily actions impacting the kingdom? Are the people around you seeing evidence of Jesus’ light in your life? Are the people around you getting the wrong impression of what it means to be a Christ follower? Consider this, what needs to change?
To be a follower of Jesus is to live according to His leading. As the writer of 1 Peter notes: But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. If Jesus is in you there’s no way He can’t be seen in the darkness! It’s up to you to make His light known to the world.
Conclusion
In a song of similar fashion, Start a Fire, Audio Adrenaline captures perfectly the joy of living within God’s
light and letting that light shine outward. The world is a cold place, clearly in need of Jesus’ light. If we’re not
willing to let the light of Christ shine through our actions, we’re not living up to Christ’s commission. How
else can we get the light into the darkness if we’re not willing to go?
